Qorokwe

 

Location:

Bordering the renowed Moremi Game Reserve, in a high-density game area of the south-eastern Okavango, the exclusive Qorokwe Concession covers around 26 000 hectares (64 000 acres).  Exploring Qorokwe offers a world of diverse Delta habitats supporting an abundance wealth of wildlife.

The Camp:

Qorokwe boasts eight beautiful tented suites, with en-suite facilities that include indoor and outdoor showers.  The camp also offers a spacious family unit and has its own splash pool. The stunning main area of the camp and overlooks a lagoon and is indeed a great area to enjoy dining, a drink or just relaxing and watching the wildlife around the camp.  These main areas are are built on raised wooden platforms, all connected by walkways.

Activities and Wildlife:
 
The Qorokwe Concession has permanent water all year round, allowing for excellent game viewing during every season. Float along a crystal-clear Okavango waterway by mokoro as you search for painted reed frogs and waterlilies. Step out into the wilderness and feel the thrill of being at one with nature. Seasonal boating excursions allow you to explore the more distant waterways.  Take a picnic and explore further afield on a full-day excursion to the spectacular and productive Gomoti Plains area, where wildlife abounds
 
The birdlife is excellent and varies throughout the year, depending on water levels and season. Species include African hawk-eagle, ground hornbill, scarlet-chested sunbird, red-billed hornbill, and Gabar goshawk.
 
The Qorokwe Concession comprises various biomes, from scattered acacia woodland with herds of giraffe, zebra and various plains game to pristine floodplains, home to curious red lechwe and mud-encrusted buffalo bulls, whence the name Qorokwe is derived: “The place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water.” Besides the local 15-member lion pride, elephant are a feature of this classic Okavango Delta setting.
