House of Waine

Location

The culmination of a span of generational dreams, this boutique hotel is easily reached from either of Nairobi’s airports.

Accommodation

What started off as a family home has now become home to numerous guests who frequently pass over its reception bridge and through the ornate wooden doors. House of Waine prides itself on quality, servitude and experience. It’s here that you’ll notice the fine polished flooring in the lounge areas, the panoramic views over the sparkling pool and the superbly shaped hedges all bordering the pastel walls.

The ten rooms are individually named, each one created to form tribute to family and Kenyan history. The one suite is generously sized for guests seeking more space. Regardless of where you rest, luxury, history and heartfelt artistry will fill your stay from start to finish. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi access, air-conditioning, TV, safe and fresh flowers that are changed regularly.

Wildlife and Activities

Attractions abound in the nearby area, starting with the Giraffe Centre. This sanctuary serves to protect the Rothschild Giraffe species. Visitors can get up close to these tame creatures, along with two other species and a family of warthogs that live on the premises. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a home for orphaned elephants and rhinos. Here you can see these juvenile animals being hand reared.

Guests searching for history can visit the Karen Blixen Museum. Other possibilities include visits to local spots where homemade and exotic goods are all available for perusal. Matbronze is ideal for the artistically inclined. This foundry specialises in using a unique “lost wax” process that gives artists the ultimate freedom in sculpting bronze statues.  Birds Paradise is only 15 minutes from the hotel and contains a thrilling array of artefacts that hold special significance to Kenya’s identity. With all these and more, your stay is bound to be a colourful and memorable experience.
