You’ll find the original Singita Lodge holding its ground among ancient trees along the banks of the Sand River. Yet the lodge’s modern design creates a new standard of innovation with the blend of bush-style lodging and tented camps. Prepare to be engrossed in the wilderness with wide open spaces and interiors that lend influence from the animal kingdom and tribal cultures of Africa. Cool tones of khaki and beige in the African heat, the opulent glow of old brass, baskets woven by the hands of gifted locals and the unyielding patience of mahogany and teak fill the lighted interiors of Ebony Lodge’s rooms.
Accommodation and Facilities
The lodge has 12 suites, each fitted with a private pool. Children of all ages are welcome here. To increase the views of the landscape, the walls of each suite have been replaced by glass and canvas. You’ll find the perfect place for dining out on the pavilion decks, suspended off the river and pinned amongst the trees. Filling each suite is a selection of hand-selected antiques and artefacts as well as vintage furnishings from the Bailes family collection. These 19th century fixtures come straight from an age where iron, steel, wood and bronze were synonymous with harmony and fortitude.
For visiting singles and couples our 8 suites are ideal. There is one inter-leading unit for groups that are voyaging together. The 2 Lewis suites are perfect for families with children in their teens. These suites neighbour each other for enough privacy and are a small stretch away from the main lodge.
The 2 family units are great for families who have smaller children. They include a master bedroom with en-suite amenities, a twin bedroom, veranda, lounge and dining areas with a rocky fireplace. Outside these suites have a deck for intimate game viewing as well as a plunge pool.
The last of the offerings is Ebony Villa, made up of 2 Family Suites with combined access to an extra private lounge, deck and pool, which connect the two suites. For your convenience, Ebony Villa includes a personal waiter, referred to as a ‘banakeli’. A chef, host and private guide and safari vehicle are on hand to facilitate your secluded experience in the bush is well. Ebony Villa can accommodate up to four adults and four children or a combination of 6 adults and teenagers, depending on your party.
