Poised along the corridor of the Great Migration, snug beneath the canopy of trees along the banks of the Grumeti River, Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is the revered meeting place of peace, patience, decadence and nature. Allow your senses to be humbled by the natural marvels of the Western Serengeti.
Where else can you eat your meal an arm stretch away from the Grumeti River, listening to the hippos communicating as daylight breaks over the silken waters? Whether you’re out on the raised deck, taking a dip in the clear pool or watching the night sky from the boma, every moment is worth reverence at Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp. The lounge and dining areas blend blonde Cyprus trimmings with leather, stone floors and cool grey finishes to meet the strong weathered wood of the door panels.
The 10 tents all lookout over the Grumeti River, with weaved-grass awnings shielding the decks and canvas chairs to rest in. Inside the rooms are spacious, with the centre piece being the king-size bed and the crystal chandelier suspended from the silken cream fabrics that flow into the walls. The en-suite bathrooms have stone showers and his and her basins, for added decadence.
Wildlife & Activities
With the Grumeti River being a permanent supplier of water throughout the year, guests not only have a chance to see vast numbers of mammals during the migration season, but also the local residence of the valleys, grasslands and marshes in the area. From predators to buck, you’re bound to see a wide variety of the Serengeti animals. Near the camp, however, there is a troop of the rare Colobus monkeys, now almost isolated to this region.
From game drives to photographic safaris, to hot air balloon rides and visits to Lake Victoria, the enjoyment never ends at Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp. A children’s program is also on hand for the kids to enjoy, making a stay here a whole-family experience.
