Busanga Bush Camp

Location

Rooted in the heart of the Kafue National Park, the Busanga Plains stretch endlessly into the horizon. Busanga Bush Camp has a charisma that leaves guests transfixed. Perhaps it’s the mist that drifts over the seasonal floodplains. Maybe it’s the unforgettable way that the sun kisses the earth, casting silhouettes of the grazing wildlife amidst the plumes of smoke and ochre shades in the sky. Whatever it is, it’ll captivate you.

The Camp

Prepare for tented dining areas, unwrapped to allow the majesty of the Busanga Plains to reach you from every possible angle. Days are rendered cool under canvas canopies, where lounging in wicker furnishings allows the drama of the plains to unfold all around you. Night meals become jovial within the glow of the chandeliered lanterns, where guests share in the splendour of the night.

Secluded on an island of fig and sycamore trees, the four exclusive en-suite tents will be your gateway to the mystery of the Busanga Plains. Each room has a secluded deck, for personal enjoyment. Four post beds, swathed in thin fabrics to keep the mosquitoes at bay, allowing the splendour of sunrises and sunsets to kiss your eyes. En suite bathrooms with the rustic charms of Africa and the grounded earthiness of stone underfoot will restore you for the awaiting safaris.

Activities and Wildlife

Renowned for its active lions, Busanga is a treat to the eyes. See a plethora of buck, along with families of wild dog, cheetah and hippo that scour the lands. Witness these animals and the almost 500 bird species on a day or night game drive. These safaris are led by experienced professionals who can sate all your curiosities about the area.

Hot Air Balloon Safaris are available, where each nook of the Plains becomes your privilege. Boating happens early in the season, when the plains are still saturated. Bird Safaris reveal the flocks of storks, bee-eaters and kingfishers endemic to the area. Lastly, the walking safari will humbly draw you into the essence of the bushveld, but only by the guidance of a professional ZAWA Scout.
